Modeling Digitals in Albuquerque: Lamairah’s First Photo Session

Lamairah came into her first professional photo session with a clear goal: create modeling digitals for agency submissions and start building her portfolio. She had never been in front of a professional camera before, and she was a little nervous. Completely understandable!

We photographed her session at Light House Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico, combining clean digitals with a set of editorial portraits. Once we started talking and she settled into the session, she was in the zone. Looking through these photos, you would never guess this was her first time.

Starting with modeling digitals

For the digitals, we kept the setting simple: a plain backdrop, a black outfit, and a mix of full-length and closer portraits. The focus was on Lamairah herself—her expression, posture, and presence in front of the camera.

She shared that she plans to submit her digitals to modeling agencies in New Mexico and New York. That gave this first shoot a real purpose: creating images she could use as she takes those next steps.

Making room for editorial photos

We also wanted her to leave with something more to explore. The editorial portion brought in denim, an open white shirt, and a teal top, along with a mix of soft light and stronger shadows.

Some portraits are direct and expressive. Others use a profile, a turn of the shoulders, or a quieter moment. Color and black-and-white images give the set variety while keeping the attention on her. She did amazing, especially for someone who walked in feeling nervous!

A portfolio starter and a confident first step

Lamairah walked away with modeling digitals for her planned submissions and editorial photos to begin her portfolio. What I loved about this session was how quickly she became comfortable enough to try different expressions and poses. That change comes through in the photographs.

If you are considering your own first modeling photo session in Albuquerque, you do not need to arrive knowing every pose. Tell me what you are working toward, and we can plan a session around your goals.
