Sinai and Elijah wanted to celebrate their anniversary with something they had never done together before: a couples photo session. They sent me a beautiful collection of inspiration photos from Pinterest, and we used those as a starting point for their own dreamy sunset portraits in Albuquerque.
We photographed their session at Los Poblanos Open Space, with tall grasses, open skies, and that warm evening light. From the playful photos in the field to the quiet silhouettes at sunset, this set has so much of what I love about photographing couples.
Turning their inspiration into something personal
I love when clients share what catches their eye before a session. Sinai and Elijah’s Pinterest collection gave us a sense of the feeling they wanted. We brought that inspiration together with my style and let the location and light shape the photographs.
The result was a mix of portraits looking toward the camera and moments focused on each other: holding hands through the grass, laughing together, and pulling each other close. Even the smaller details, like their hands clasped overhead, became part of the story.
Dreamy sunset portraits in Albuquerque
As the sun dropped, the photographs took on a warmer, more intimate feel. I love the light around them in the close-up portraits and the silhouettes against the glowing sky. There is also a black-and-white image of them walking hand in hand beneath the clouds that gives the collection a different mood.
They had a great time, I had a blast, and we came away with gorgeous photos to celebrate this chapter of their relationship. For their first couples session, they made it feel so natural!
