Some photoshoots are planned weeks in advance. Others? Well, they happen with just 14 hours’ notice.
I was driving home late at night after an exhausting music video shoot when I got a call and a text from Jose, who was in a bit of a panic—he needed professional headshots ASAP for an upcoming event. After talking to him, I realized he didn’t believe he could actually find a photographer to pull it off on such short notice.
Lucky for him, this is what I do full-time—so I made it happen.
By the next morning, we were in the studio, and I made sure he got exactly what he wanted: a dramatic black backdrop, crisp lighting, and strong, professional portraits. But here’s the best part—what started as an “emergency headshot” session turned into a full portrait experience.
I encouraged him to bring multiple outfits, and we ended up shooting three different looks with a mix of styles and backdrops. Now, he’s got high-quality images not just for his event, but also for LinkedIn, social media, and even his dating profile. Talk about maximizing a photoshoot!
Moral of the story? Don’t assume it’s impossible—just reach out. You never know when you’ll find a photographer who can make it happen.
